Coffee Breaks and Cake Crumbs

Well hello again. I miraculously found some time to write a little bit about my life here in Rhode Island and what I have been doing the past 4 weeks. It has been nothing but constant movement at the Academy. With each day comes a new sunrise over the ocean and a new post-it note filled with things to do.
The first week was complete chaos with the arrival of the students and schedules changing almost every hour. Tears rolled down many cheeks the first couple of days, but the girls are now adjusted and I'm not finding anyone alone and lost around the school anymore. (That's a good a sign and actually an improvement for the girls) We are about to embark on our 3rd week with them, but it is my 5th week away from Home sweet Home. The arrival of the fall winds and colors has made me miss the Family but we are spoiled with many Touristic day trips. These are a few pictures of my Section and I on the last two saturdays. We are section 5 and have alot of pride in that :) We cheer in the streets and we make sure that everyone knows when we are around.

The first one is at the New Port docks and the second is at the Big E state fair. They were both extremely enjoyable. At New Port we had perfect weather for our Boat ride and at the Fair it was JUST could anough to wear a jacket. I think my high light was buying the most delicious mini cinnamon fried donuts I have ever tasted in my life and riding some bumper cars with all of my girls. SO far it has been a great two weeks. This week we are going to Boston and we will recieve a tour around the city followed by some shopping in Quincy Market. Wish me Luck!

Here is a Picture of all the Deans together and the Head Dean Mrs. Romaine Freeman. There are 8 Mexicans, 1 Venezuelan and 2 Americans. They all feel like my sisters already! With the business of everyones schedules, the time we have together occurs rarely but is lived with richness. Every day at around 11am we have time to go get a snack from the kitchen. Little by little everyone starts to stop what they are doing and we all end up around the basket of snacks and the coffee pot. It is one of my favorite times of the day apart from daily Mass in the mornings. Its a time to take a break and refresh yourself, and say hello to the people you don't otherwise see.We also take alot of Joy out of the near 200 birthdays we celebrate during the year.As a result of the frequent Birthday celebrations, our dessert for dinner is the famous Birthday Cake atleast once a week. Everyone usually fights to get extra pieces and the dining room silences as soon as it comes out into the tables. Talk about small thrills.

It has been such a whirwind of a month but I am very excited to start the season of Autumn. I have already pulled out my boots and scarves from my closet and keep thinking of the line from the movie "You've got mail" when she talks about getting a Bouquet of sharpened pencils delivered to her. Soon I will write all about the month of October and all of the fun fall festivities that we will be doing. Hopefully that will be before November hits. :) I send my love to everyone! Enjoy the turning of seasons and family-paint a pumkin in my honor! -Jane
